Why repiping comes up so often in older GTA homes

A lot of Toronto's housing stock still has its original supply lines. That's fine until it isn't, and the signs are usually gradual before they're suddenly not.

Galvanized steel supply lines

Common in homes built before the 1960s, these corrode from the inside, gradually restricting flow until pressure drops noticeably.

Rust-coloured water

Often the first visible sign of galvanized pipe breaking down internally, especially after the water's sat overnight.

Repeated pinhole leaks

Once one section of old copper starts pinholing, others nearby are usually not far behind.

Renovation-driven repiping

A kitchen or bathroom reno in an older home is often the natural point to repipe that section while walls are already open.

Why repiping comes up so often in older GTA homes
The problem

Patching old pipe eventually costs more than replacing it

Every new pinhole leak, every dropping pressure complaint, every rust stain is a symptom of the same underlying pipe reaching the end of its service life. Patch jobs treat one spot while the rest of the system keeps aging.

Our solution

We plan the repipe around your house, not a template

We map out routing that minimizes cutting into finished walls and ceilings where we can, phase the work if needed, and use materials suited to how your home is actually built.

How It Works

How a repipe project runs

Bigger job, same straightforward approach.

  1. 1

    Assessment

We look at your current pipe material, age, and how it's routed through the house.

  2. 2

    Planning

We map the new routing to limit how much drywall and flooring gets disturbed.

  3. 3

    Quote and scheduling

You get a clear scope and cost before work begins, full or partial.

  4. 4

    The repipe

New lines installed section by section, water kept on as much as possible.

  5. 5

    Testing and patch coordination

Full pressure test, and we let you know what's needed to close up walls afterward.

Why homeowners trust us with a repipe

It's a bigger investment, so the process should be transparent from the start.

Careful routing plans

We minimize cutting into finished spaces wherever the layout allows.

Licensed & insured

Permitted, inspected, done to code.

Experience with old systems

Galvanized, early copper, we've traced and replaced plenty of it.

Phased options available

Full repipe isn't always necessary right away — we'll say so.

Respect for your home

Protective coverings and cleanup are part of the job, not an afterthought.

Clear cost breakdowns

You'll know what you're paying for before the first pipe comes out.

Repiping questions

How do I know if I need a full repipe or just a partial one?

It depends on the age and condition of your existing pipe. If failures are isolated to one section, a partial repipe may be enough — we'll assess and tell you honestly.

Is discoloured water a sign I need repiping?

Rust-coloured water, especially first thing in the morning, is a common sign of galvanized pipe corroding internally. It's worth having assessed.

How disruptive is a repipe to daily life in the house?

We plan routing to limit disruption, but some drywall access is usually needed. We'll walk you through what to expect before work starts.

Do you coordinate with drywall repair after a repipe?

We handle the plumbing and let you know what patching is needed afterward. Some clients bring in their own drywall contractor, others ask us for a referral.

Is repiping only for very old homes?

Mostly, yes — it's most common in homes with original galvanized or aging copper. Newer homes with PEX rarely need it unless there's specific damage.

Tired of patching the same old pipes?

Email us and we'll assess whether a full or partial repipe makes sense.
